What this monetized channel checker actually checks

Use this free YouTube Monetization Checker to understand whether a public channel appears close to YouTube Partner Program requirements. Paste a handle, channel ID URL, or legacy custom URL and the tool will check YouTube monetization signals including subscribers, public video count, total views, recent uploads, estimated long-form watch hours, and estimated Shorts views. Unlike a simple subscriber counter, our YPP eligibility checker explains both the early-access fan-funding tier and the higher ad-revenue tier. The report also adds a niche-based RPM range, monthly-view estimate, and YouTube revenue analyzer so creators and brands can model potential earnings. Because YouTube does not publish a channel’s actual monetization status through its public API, no third-party monetized channel checker can provide definitive proof. YPPCheck labels calculated values clearly and never treats ads on a video as proof of enrollment. Use the result as a fast, evidence-based screening tool, then verify your own channel inside YouTube Studio before making business or financial decisions.

YouTube monetization questions

Understand the thresholds, edge cases, and limits behind every result.

What are the YouTube Partner Program requirements?

For ad revenue sharing, a channel generally needs 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 valid public watch hours from long-form videos in the last 12 months or 10 million valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days. The channel must also satisfy YouTube’s policy, account, country, and review requirements.

What is the lower 500-subscriber YPP tier?

In countries where expanded YPP access is available, creators can apply for fan-funding and selected Shopping features with 500 subscribers, three valid public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 valid public watch hours in 12 months or 3 million valid public Shorts views in 90 days. This tier does not unlock ad revenue sharing.

Why do ads appear on a non-monetized channel?

YouTube may serve ads on videos even when the uploader is not enrolled in YPP. A copyright owner may also place ads after a Content ID claim. Seeing an ad is therefore not reliable proof that the channel receives ad revenue.

What does the yellow dollar sign mean in YouTube Studio?

A yellow monetization icon usually means a video has limited or no ads because it may not meet all advertiser-friendly content guidelines. The video can remain public and the channel can remain in YPP, but ad demand and revenue may be reduced.

How does YouTube Shorts monetization work?

Eligible creators who accept the Shorts Monetization Module share revenue from ads shown between videos in the Shorts Feed. Revenue is pooled, music licensing is accounted for, and creators receive 45% of their allocated amount. Shorts RPM is usually much lower than long-form RPM.

Do Shorts watch hours count toward the 4,000-hour requirement?

No. Watch time generated in the Shorts Feed does not count toward the 4,000 valid public watch hours route. Shorts have a separate eligibility route based on valid public Shorts views during a 90-day window.

Does more watch time always mean more payment?

No. Watch time can create more opportunities for ads, but payment depends on monetized playbacks, viewer location, advertiser demand, topic, format, season, ad suitability, YouTube Premium viewing, and other factors. YouTube does not pay a fixed rate per watch hour.

Is a Content ID claim the same as demonetization?

No. A Content ID claim applies to specific copyrighted material and may let the rights holder monetize, track, or block that video. Demonetization can affect a video or an entire channel for separate advertiser-friendly or YPP policy reasons.

How often does this checker update channel data?

Results are cached for up to 24 hours to keep checks fast and conserve YouTube API quota. YouTube’s own public statistics can also lag or be rounded, so very recent changes may not appear immediately.

Can a channel lose YouTube monetization?

Yes. YouTube can suspend or remove monetization for policy violations, invalid traffic, reused or repetitious content, inactivity, account issues, or other YPP compliance problems. Staying above numeric thresholds does not guarantee continued membership.

Are 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours enough by themselves?

No. Meeting a numeric threshold makes a channel eligible to apply for the relevant YPP tier. YouTube still reviews the channel, and the creator must meet applicable monetization policies, have no active Community Guidelines strikes, enable two-step verification, have advanced features access, and link an AdSense for YouTube account.

How accurate is the watch-hours estimate?

It is a directional model based on public views, video duration, publishing date, and an assumed average percentage viewed for a sample of recent uploads. The public API does not expose valid public watch hours, so only YouTube Studio can show the authoritative value.

Can this tool confirm that a channel is monetized?

No. YouTube does not expose a public YPP-status field. The badge describes how public estimates compare with numeric thresholds; sponsorships, memberships, ads, policy standing, and actual YPP enrollment cannot be conclusively verified from public channel data.

Why can subscriber counts differ from YouTube Studio?

Public subscriber counts may be abbreviated, hidden, rounded, delayed, or adjusted as YouTube removes spam and closed accounts. A channel owner’s Studio analytics are the authoritative source for exact current figures.
